We're very sorry, but as a small, un-subsidised theatre company we can't accept unsolicited CV's or manuscripts.  But check back here, or on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for details.  Thanks.

VOLUNTEER FUNDRAISER

We're looking for a volunteer fundraiser, if anyone can help. Can you dedicate a few hours a month to contact trusts, foundations and companies on behalf of Maverick, a registered theatre charity dedicated to increasing access to the performing arts?

We have our new 'Pocket Classics' series - small and accessible versions of Shakespeare and other classics about to tour theatre and non-performance spaces; medium-scale national and international tours planned; a series of audio dramas for and by young people and the Maverick People's Company large-scale productions planned for London and Birmingham. Our total raise could be £200,00 per annum, but ANY amount towards that total would be hugely appreciated. Obviously some knowledge of basic accounting would be a
benefit, but a desire to learn is more important!

And a percentage of funds raised can be used to offset your expenses. Thanks.

How to Apply: Send to freelance@mavericktheatre.co.uk marked 'Fundraiser'  in the title. Thanks.

MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS/SOCIAL MEDIA HEAD

Freelance / Starting 1 day a week / Cloud-based working,

The Maverick Academy is part of the award winning, not-for-profit charity the Maverick Theatre Company. Launched in 1994 on a council estate in Birmingham, Maverick is dedicated to increasing access to the arts - particularly theatre. The company has disrupted many theatrical conventions and in October 2020 launched the world’s first Diploma in Creative Producing - offering MA level tuition in an accessible, part time, 16 week course. For more information on the course, please see www.TheatreProducerTraining.com

Thanks to a donation from a supporter, Maverick now seeks to engage a freelance practitioner to undertake Marketing, Communications and Social media and to raise awareness of the programmes across the UK and internationally; to build connections with wider networks, and, especially, to focus on those who may not feel included in pathways to producing theatre, events and a creative business.

We seek a self-motivated individual who, on their own initiative, will initiate and find new unexpected routes. This could be ideal for a return-to-worker or someone unexpectedly available because of circumstances. You will have ambitions for your future in the creative industries and find Maverick supportive of your creative plans.

The interconnected projects needing marketing are:

a) Attract recruits/interest for the Diploma in Creative Producing (DipCP)

b) Build awareness of Maverick Theatre and the Academy with networks, attracting diverse engagement in the UK and internationally.

c) Promote a new 'Creative Hubs'  programme starting later 2023 (more info at interview)

d) Launch internationally a programme of masterclasses and events.

e) Promote our productions, on tour and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Detail: Initially 1 day per week, £80 per day, for 3 months with the intention to continue. You work from your home/base. Chosen day to suit. Weekly check in meetings (Zoom) with Maverick and opportunity to attend some Diploma and other events such as Creative Producers Club.

How to Apply: Send to freelance@mavericktheatre.co.uk marked Mktg & Comms Application in the title...

1)  A CV (2 pages maximum, please)

2)  A covering letter (max 2 pages please) highlighting things we should know about you and your ambitions. It should reflect what you have seen on the www.MaverickTheatreCompany.com pages and answer two questions: What can you offer us? - and - what do you need for your own career which you think this opportunity may offer?

Deadline: to start ASAP.

The work involves planning a social media campaign, writing press releases and emails, sending out information, talking to people by zoom or phone, keeping clear records using Excel.  It will not suit someone for whom these communication tools are a challenge. A good standard of written English is an advantage.

Our successful three-hour tour of the Pubs and haunts of famous writers in Soho and Fitzrovia goes out every Saturday at 5pm and often in the week.  We are looking for one or two actors and/or writers who can entertain and host our audiences, who tend to be more interested in the literature than the booze!  Although there is a script to learn and follow, much of the attraction of our offering is that it is hosted by artists who have an affinity with the lives and conditions of the writers we include. For details of the tour, please see www.LondonLiteraryPubCrawl.com

Fee: £40 per 3 hour show.   £50 for parties of more than 10.
